Gallery Concord Closing

Thank you for your interest in Gallery Concord.

We will no longer be exhibiting our artwork at the Masonic Temple after December 16 at 4pm.

The Concord Historical Society is saving the building from demolition, moving it, and turning it into a museum.

We are looking for a new space to exhibit our wonderful work. When we have information about a new Gallery, we will make an announcement here, stay tuned!

Thank you so very much for your support.

"Nortonville" by Carol Jurasin
The featured artist is Carol Jurasin, a watercolor artist from Concord, CA. Carol considers herself primarily a plein aire painter, although she also enjoys painting the figure and some still life. Her first plein aireCarol’s life there have been many years when painting was subordinated to family and work, however the freshness of watercolor has always lured her back. She’s completed an ROP course in commercial art, studied art at Academy of Art, and also studied with watercolorists Jade Fon, Jonelle Johnson, Marianne Brown and taken workshops with several nationally acclaimed watercolorists. Carol has had many one-woman shows, been accepted in many juried shows and has had her work published.
Painting serves as her meditation, a chance to glide into a place of quiet peace. Success for her is achieved any time she can bring the viewer into that inner place with her.

The guest artist for the Fall Show is Jody Mattison, an artist living in Antioch, CA whose work has involved in drawing, oil painting, sculpture and printmaking. Jody Mattison holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco and is an established exhibitor throughout Northern California, with work in such prestigious shows as the Crocker-Kingsley Juried Exhibition. She has also been published in the International Artist magazine, and has her work in collections both locally and internationally. Jody teaches adult- and college-level art classes in the San Francisco Bay area, as well as leading annual painting excursions to Costa Rica and Italy. She is co-director of Lafayette Studio and Antioch Atelier. Jody is interested in a variety of subject matter. Besides the figure, she works with the still life, landscape, and portraiture, giving each a unique presence that informs these traditional genres with a contemporary sensibility.
